Bike More Challenge 2017: Final Recap
May has ended, and with it the Bike More Challenge.
12,336 people across Oregon participated in the Bike More Challenge this past month, setting a new record for participation! Team LifeBalance was no exception to this trend, with three more riders than we had last year. We finished in a respectable 61st place, out of 165 companies with 7-19 employees. A big thank you is in order to all those who participated alongside our staff in the Challenge this past month.
Team LifeBalance logged 274 miles over the course of the month – roughly the distance from our office to Northwest Outdoor Store in Medford, OR (where LifeBalance Program members save 10% on purchases). Shout out to our top rider, Kevin Foster, who rode 130 miles over 29 trips!
Though the Bike More Challenge has concluded, we still have the entire summer ahead of us! With the best cycling weather yet to come, now is the perfect time to continue riding and building upon the cycling routines established in May. Summer is a great time to join organized bike rides, like those of Pedalpalooza in Portland, or the Cascade Bike Club in Seattle. LifeBalance members have access to savings on a number of summer races, such as Petal Pedal and Tour de Lab, as well as multi-day cycling tours with Bicycle Adventures. It’s also an excellent time to teach children how to ride, and to take family bike rides together. Here’s a guide from REI that details their teaching method for kids.
Thank you, again, to all Bike More Challenge participants and everyone who has been cheering us on! It’s been a wonderful month of cycling and a great way to kick off the summer!
