Visiting Oregon's Hallmark Resort
Here at the LifeBalance Program, we love to visit our vendors and take advantage of the exclusive savings they offer through the program! Erin Kennedy, our Senior Vice President, recently went on a vacation to the Hallmark Resort in Newport, OR, with her husband Jon and son Benjamin. We checked in with her on the experience:
LBP: Why did you choose this vendor?
EK: We love escaping to the Oregon Coast during the winter months. Typically, our family goes to Manzanita or Cannon Beach. However, when we were looking at hotel options on the LifeBalance site, the great rate, beachfront location, and amenities at the Hallmark Resort made Newport an easy choice for us.

LBP: What were the highlights of your trip?
EK: I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I ate my weight in the delicious salt water taffy offered in the lobby. To counter that, I did use the fitness center…once ☺. The equipment seemed brand new and the elliptical machine had a solitaire game on it, which helped me forget I was exercising. I was also happy to find some kettlebells and free weights so I could incorporate a little strength training too.
The pool and spa area was incredible! We took Benjamin swimming every day – the water temperature was perfect and everything was super clean. The hot tub had great jets and was large, so it never felt crowded. The Hallmark Resort also has a sauna, and I was able to use my Calm app and meditate without interruption.

The hotel is perfectly situated. We watched storms roll in from our beachfront balcony and were able to easily sneak in a beach walk when the sun came out.
The staff was amazing. Every time we walked into the lobby, the front desk staff called Benjamin by name. The housekeeping and maintenance staff also took time to ask if we needed anything and to help entertain Benjamin (he loves vacuums and when he blows kisses, he expects the recipient to return the favor!). For the record, they had no idea that I’d be featuring them on the LifeBalance blog, so I’m certain that they treat all of their guests with the same level of care.
We had a great time exploring Newport’s Historic Bayfront. We ate at Ocean Bleu Seafoods at Gino’s and had exceptional service – some of the best chowder ever! We did some shopping and visited the sea lions too.

LBP: Next time you go, what will you do or try? Any tips or recommendations for other travelers?
EK: If you have a kid who goes to sleep early, request room 344. Jon and I were able to put Benjamin to bed and then hang out in the common area and watch him using the baby monitor. Room 344 is located right next to the common area, so we were literally in the next room just like we are at home.
Georgie’s Beachside Grill is attached to the hotel and serves delicious halibut fish tacos. Instead of eating there or ordering room service (a lot more expensive), it’s easy to place a carryout order to bring back to your room or the common area.

There is tons of common space throughout the hotel. Whether you want to read a book, play board games, or let your toddler climb up and down the stairs for hours, you’ll be able to. As an added bonus, most of the common space has incredible ocean views.
When we go back, I’d love to use our discount at Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. This time we found it tough to leave the hotel because everything we needed, including the beach, was right there!
